CRMJ 4870 - Race, Class, and Gender in Criminal Justice(3) This class will explore the historical inequities which have contributed to divisive issues in our contemporary criminal justice system surrounding the intersections of race, gender, and class in America. Some of the topics explored will include changes in policing strategies, racial profiling, sentencing bias, perspectives surrounding protests of the police, and the disproportionate imposition of the death penalty on certain groups.
Prerequisite: Acceptance to the BAS program. (3 hrs lec)
