Nursing - Registered Nurse, A.D.N


The Associate Degree in Nursing from Northwest College (NWC) provides a solid foundation in the principles and skills of Professional Nursing for students planning to practice as a Registered Nurse. The five-semester program utilizes theory, laboratory, simulation, and clinical learning experiences to prepare the successful graduate as a competent nurse who provides effective, safe, and appropriate nursing care to diverse populations in a variety of health care delivery settings. 

There are additional admission and application requirements above and beyond those for general college admission.  Prospective students should visit the Nursing Department website (www.nwc.edu/nursing/) for requirements specific to the Nursing Program. The Nursing Department provides information to all prospective students upon request. Applications are accepted each Spring semester for admission to the Powell program, which begins in the fall semester and each Fall semester for admission to the Cody program, which begins in the spring semester. 

The Northwest College Associate Degree Nursing Program is approved by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing (State of Wyoming, State Board of Nursing, 130 Hobbs Ave., Suite B, Cheyenne WY 82002, 307-754-7601). The Northwest College nursing program at Northwest College located in Powell, WY is accredited by the: Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) 3390 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1400 Atlanta, GA 30326 (404) 975-5000. The most recent accreditation decision made by the ACEN Board of Commissioners for the Associate Degree nursing program is Continuing Accreditation. Individuals desiring to enroll in the five-semester program, licensed Practical Nurses interested in pursuing an RN degree, and transfer students from another nursing program need to visit the Nursing Department website (www.nwc.edu/nursing/) for the most recent application packet, requirements, and admission criteria. Individuals who successfully complete the first two semesters of the Associate Degree in Nursing Program are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN exam.  If successful on the NCLEX-PN exam, the individual will be eligible for LPN licensure and practice as an LPN in Wyoming and across the U.S. with a compact licensure status.  Individuals who successfully complete the Associate Degree in Nursing program in its entirety are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam.  If successful on the NCLEX-RN exam, the graduate will be eligible for RN licensure and practice as an RN in Wyoming and across the U.S. with a compact licensure status.  If you have further questions, please contact the Nursing Department (307-754-6484).
