This training program is designed to assist students in earning their Class A Commercial Driver’s License with endorsement options to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to drive trucks, buses, and other commercial motor vehicles. This certificate program is delivered in a hybrid format, combining online coursework and behind-the-wheel (in-person) instruction in either one or two 8-week blocks. Training covers actual range, city, rural and mountain driving experience. This all-inclusive training will provide students with a competitive edge to gain successful employment in the rapidly expanding professional commercial motor vehicle industry. Course topics include: basic operation, safety and advanced operating procedures, vehicle systems and reporting malfunctions, non-driving activities, and driving exercises related to basic vehicle control. The course also includes mastery of basic maneuvers and procedures, movement, shifting, communications, observation, speed and space, safety, logging, documentation, and an understanding of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and WYDOT regulations.
