Emergency Medical Services, Paramedicine, A.A.S.

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Emergency Medical Services-Paramedicine program includes 81 credit hours that comprehensively prepares the Emergency Medican Technician to advance to the next level of skill and career development to become a paramedic. The program is delivered in a face-to-face fashion for the P1 and P2 semesters. The program is delivered in a hybrid fashion in the P3 and p4 semesters with didactic portions being online and weekly labs being face-to-face. Classes are held in the Yellowstone Building in Powell. Clinical experiences take place at various agencies across the NWC service area. The paramedic program meets the requirements for candidates to sit for the National Registry of EMT Paramedic examiniation and is accredited by CoAEMSP (Committe on Accreditation for the EMS Professions). The program provides the pre-requisites to conintue for a Bachelor of Science, Community Paramedicine, or potentially bridge to a Nursing Program. In addition, paramedic graduates will be able to function proficiently in expanding roles available in critial care areas such as the emergency room. All general education courses wtihin the Emergency Medican Services-Paramedicine, A.A.S. program must be passed with a “C” or higher and all EMS courses must be passed with a “B” or higher. 

 

Prerequisites: Current or pending unencumbered EMT license and successful completion of all entrance exam requirements and the panel interview for admission into Paramedic 1.
