The Associate of Applied Science Nursing Degree from Northwest College (NWC) provides a solid foundation in the principles and skills of Professional Nursing for students planning to practice as a Registered Nurse. The four-semester program utilizes theory, laboratory, simulation, and clinical learning experiences to prepare the successful graduate as an entry-level nurse who provides effective, safe, competent, and appropriate nursing care to diverse populations in a variety of health care delivery settings. 

There are additional admission and application requirements above and beyond those for general college admission.  Prospective students should visit the Nursing Department website (www.nwc.edu/nursing/) for requirements specific to the Nursing Program. The Nursing Department provides information to all prospective students upon request. Applications are accepted each Spring for Admission to the program each fall semester.

The Northwest College Associate of Applied Science Degree Nursing Program is approved by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing (State of Wyoming, State Board of Nursing, 130 Hobbs Ave., Suite B, Cheyenne WY 82002, 307-754-7601) and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN, 3343 Peachtree NE, Suite 850, Atlanta GA 30326, 404-975-5000). Successful completion of the four-semester program of study leads to an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing and eligibility to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing (NCLEX RN).

Individuals desiring to enroll in the four-semester program, graduates of the Practical Nursing programs interested in pursuing an RN degree, and transfer students from another nursing program need to visit the Nursing Department website (www.nwc.edu/nursing/) for the most recent application packet, requirements, and admission criteria. Total General Education Requirements: 32-33 Credits

All nursing courses are sequential and must be taken with the corresponding co-requisite nursing course(s) in each semester. Students must successfully complete all nursing and co-requisite courses with a 74% or higher within each semester in order to progress to the next semester.  A student may take a course a maximum of three times to earn a 74% (C) or better to enter into the Nursing Program or to be allowed to continue in the program once admitted.

Total Core Courses: 40 Credits


Minimum Credits for Degree = 72-73
