SOC 2340 - Relationship Violence(3) Students will learn the nature and extent of domestic violence, child abuse, dating violence, and sexual assault in America and the legal ramifications. A historical perspective on relationship violence will be explored as well as contemporary factors that contribute to the recurrence of the cycle of violence. Finally, coping strategies and techniques to prevent burnout will be addressed for the professional working with the victims of violence. Students who successfully complete this course with a grade of “B” or better may be eligible for possible internship positions with Crisis Intervention Services. (3 hrs lec)
