This course examines the historic evolution of American crime and the American justice system from the early Colonial Period through the Twenty- first Century. The course studies philosophical shifts in correctional strategies, criminal activities, and law enforcement techniques and their impact on crime and the American judicial system. Credit cannot be earned in both SOC 2420 and HIST 2420. (3 hrs lec)
